Blue Mountain Madness
When Spartan cancelled its legendary Palmerton race, Blue Mountain Resort didn't accept defeat—they grabbed the opportunity to launch their own adrenaline-fueled alternative. Blue Mountain Madness arrives October 3rd with 20+ brutal obstacles winding through Pennsylvania's toughest mountain terrain, and this isn't just a consolation prize—it's a legit new contender in the OCR scene. With registration closing Wednesday and spots disappearing fast, racers hungry for that intense obstacle course experience have found their next obsession.
Among the many Spartan Races that were cancelled in 2020, Palmerton was among the most disappointing. Typically hosted at Blue Mountain Resort in Palmerton, Pennsylvania, the annual event has become a “can’t miss” for elite and open wavers alike. However, this year’s cancellation isn’t a complete loss. Spartan will still host its Hurricane Heat Weekend on October 9-10. Even better, Blue Mountain Resort is hosting its first Blue Mountain Madness Obstacle Course Race on Saturday, October 3rd. Racers will maneuver through 20+ obstacles spread out over 10K of gorgeously, rugged tree-covered mountains.
Blue Mountain Resort takes COVID concerns seriously. There will be 4 registration waves in which racers are released :30 seconds apart to avoid bottlenecks. Course officials will sanitize obstacles between each wave. Space is limited, and registration ends Wednesday.
